The KEYS to Dressing with Confidence

The KEYS to Dressing with Confidence

What makes someone CONFIDENT?

This week we’re focusing on a topic a few followers mentioned to me as their New Years Resolution. While the wording may have been different the theme was clear - people want to EXUDE CONFIDENCE this year. So let’s get into it - how does one exude confidence?

1. Fine tuning personal style. A big reason people lack confidence is that they don’t know their personal style or aesthetic, or they’re wearing things that are from a former personal style (they haven’t updated their style and wardrobe in a while). Not feeling YOU makes you not feel CONFIDENTLY YOU. Which is why every session I operate starts with a style assessment.

2. Dressing for your body type. If you’re not dressing for your current shape, or wearing clothes for a different body shape, they’re not going to be flattering, and you’re not going to be confident. While I can help you with the specifics, this guide for the best jeans for your body type is a great free resource to start with.

3. Think about location; dressing appropriately for whatever setting/event you’re attending will help you feel like you’re in the right aesthetic and therefore feel more confident. Something like getting granular; don’t just have one “wedding guest” look; dress for the type of wedding it is, and where it is. You shouldn’t be wearing the same dress to a black tie wedding in the city as you would to a barnyard afternoon wedding in wine country. Need help with one specific event? 4. Upgrade your basics! Honestly, having new items that don’t feel drab does WONDERS for your confidence. There’s something about the mental dose of dopamine when you’ve got something new on that just makes you feel FABULOUS!
