Sahra's Tips for Looking Your Best in Designer Duds

Sahra's Tips for Looking Your Best in Designer Duds

Today I want to talk about all things DESIGNER!

Now, we all can't always be draped in Chanel, Gucci, YSL, Fendi, etc. but that doesn't mean you can't have fun with more contemporary labels or brands! I definitely encourage you to find what brands you LOVE and fit your aesthetic.

IE: if you're contemporary luxury, embrace that Michael Kors and Coach; if you're sporty, go for that NIke, Supreme, and Adidas; and if you're true luxe, embrace those designer duds!

But then, you need to wear them right. You can't just throw on something with a label and look "fashionable", oh no, honey. True style is understated. Here's my top rules for wearing labels and designer:

1. Only wear one logo piece at a time. Wearing all over logo, especially competing brands, looks incredibly try-hard, like you're trying to prove your worth. Having just one logo is more casual, while over-ladening with designer is a little gauche.

2. Mix high end pieces with low end pieces. This will (1) elevate your fast fashion pieces and (2) balance out those luxury pieces. True stylish people know they don't need to be in head to toe designer to be fashionable.

3. Invest in timeless luxury. Especially if you're on a budget or new to designer, start small, with something timeless, as opposed to the current "it" piece just to fit in. Look for designers that have a long history and retain their investment (Chanel is a great example, in that their bags tend to become worth more over time). Plus, by buying a more basic/neutral, you'll get much more cost per wear out of the item.

4. Shop Used/Consignment when possible. There's nothing I hate more than missing out on a great deal. Even though I'm always sourcing and shopping luxury goods, I try to do it in a way that won't break the bank. My favorite places to shop? The Real Real and Poshmark; both have authentication services and a lovely selection of designer pieces.
