5 Ways to Find Your Own Personal Style

5 Ways to Find Your Own Personal Style

A few weeks ago I share my top FOUR reasons why you feel like you have nothing to wear, and number four was “not knowing your own personal style”. It can be intimidating to try and sit down and articulate what you want to evoke through your dressing, but I’ve listed out five ways to get you started on honing in on what “your style” is.

1. Follow people who inspire you on socials; these should be people in a similar shape and size as you, as well as people with similar tastes. If you’re following people with only one attribute you may get burned by their recommendations.

2. Start a Pinterest board of things you’d actually wear, and things you appreciate but maybe don’t feel fully “you”

3. Make sure you feel GOOD in the clothes you wear; they should fit you, not you fitting into the clothes. Find brands that work for your shape and size, or get your favorites tailored.

4. Look at your favorite outfits - what do they all have in common? Is it a specific color? Print? Formula? Find what’s working and define it, so you can continue to recreate it.

5. When shopping be sure to shop based on your needs and not just “blind shopping”. Before going access your closet and upcoming events and deduce what you need and what you don’t. Failing to do this will have you impulse buying things that aren’t “you” or buying items too similar to what you already own.
