Why Shop the City’s Style Assessment Makes You Feel Seen (Not Just Styled)
Because your style should reflect who you are not just what’s trending.
Most “style quizzes” or online assessments are focused on trends or cookie-cutter style archetypes. They ask you about colors and silhouettes, then spit out a generic answer. They’re guessing at what you like, without understanding the why of why you like it.
At Shop the City, our Style Assessment goes deeper. It’s about understanding you - your lifestyle, your energy, your unique expression - and then creating a wardrobe that supports all of it.
Step 1: Finding The Inspiration
We start with a little quiz, much like the ones you’ve taken online. Only this time, instead of whipping through the images we’re going to get into WHY you are drawn to certain ones, and why you are opposed to others. Is it the color, the print, the length? How do you react to ultra trendy, bohemian, modern minimalist? We start to decode what feels “you”/
Step 2: Getting into your Lifestyle
Next, we continue by looking at your life, not the latest fashion magazines.
How do your days actually unfold? (School runs, work meetings, errands, nights out)
What clothing challenges frustrate you most? Is it a sweater that doesn’t drape perfectly, stiff fabrics cutting into you?
What moments make you feel confident or underdressed?
Your wardrobe should reflect your lifestyle and work for YOU, not be whatever trending and fits.
Step 3: Color, Shape & Energy
We don’t just focus on what’s in style and your style, we focus on what feels right.
Color palettes that highlight your natural tones
Silhouettes that celebrate your body’s architecture without finding behind your clothes
Styles that convey your personality and mood
The goal is a wardrobe that feels aligned, not forced.
Step 4: Self-Understanding, Not Self-Sabotage
Clients often tell me they’ve never felt “seen” in their style before. That’s because most closets reflect who you thought you should be, not who you are today. They tend to be gathered of “good enough” items without the knowledge to find what works for YOU.
✨ Stylist tip: Knowing your style profile helps you shop smarter. Instead of chasing trends, you can invest in pieces that actually belong in your wardrobe story.
Step 5: Trends Become Tools, Not Rules
Once we understand your foundation, trends become fun add-ons, not stressful obligations that you feel tied to each season. You’ll know exactly which seasonal pieces enhance your wardrobe and which ones don’t fit your life or personality.
With Shop the City we get to know you. The real you complete with everything that makes you you and how to show up as your best self in looks that make you feel confident.
